Head Teacher's Blog 3rd November 2017
Hello Everybody, Welcome to Term 2.
It has been a busy and exciting week here at The Peele, culminating in a Super Learning Day today. We have had a variety of providers visiting the school today and every single one has commented on how friendly and enthusiastic our students were. We had the Army putting everyone through their paces, Boston College, COWA, NOVA Training, Anglian Water, the RNLI, Morrisons, Bishop Grosseteste from Lincoln, Bakkavor, Aim Apprenticeships and we had Cragrats who were just working with Year 10. There was also the Star Lincs Planetarium, Skills Service Enterprise Challenge and the Lego Challenge for years 7, 8 and 9. Everyone had great fun and our students went home exhausted but very happy, having traveled to the stars, joined the army and had the best Super Learning Day ever. I would like to say a huge 'Thank You' to Mrs Gilman for coordinating all of the different providers who came in and for making the whole experience possible for our students.
I promised to let you know the names of our newly appointed Prefects. These students are all in Year 11 and all wrote a letter or application in order to be considered. They went through a thorough interview process and are poised to start their Prefect duties next week. Our Prefects are:
Kayleigh Britton, Lisha Flindall, Daniel Kimber, Harry Lenton, Emma Linnett, Kirsty Wattam, Jessica Correia, Joice Correia, Luke Dewey, Scott Hughes, Lewis Forth, Taylor Fox, Emily Thorpe, Emile Raichelyte, Abby Magor and Tiegan Butcher.
Some news from PE now. On Thursday Mrs Green took a team to the South Holland Inter-Schools KS4 Trampolining Competition. The girls had a brilliant day and were outstanding ambassadors for their team and the school. Some specific results were:
Novice Year 10
1st - Ebony Weston
2nd - Beth Dennis
3rd - Sophie Harvey (Furner)
Novice Year 11
1st - Emma Linnett
Advanced Trampolining
5th - Danielle Taylor
A special mention goes to Sarah Harper - it was her first time representing the school and she was awesome - huge thanks and congratulations from Mrs Green and from me.
Well done to all of the girls who have trained so hard.
Thursday evening saw our first Afternoon Tea for parents of the JLT members (and the JLT as well). Thank you to those who attended, it was good to see you all and have a chat about how we can improve the school together.
Finally, a quick reminder that next week we have the Year 11 Parents Evening on Thursday 9th November.
I wish you all a lovely weekend, I hope that the weather stays fine for any Bonfire and Fireworks parties that you have planned.
