Head Teacher’s Blog 10th May 2019

Hello to all of you, and apologies for the gap since my last Blog.

This is a 2 piece Blog, to share some news and information with you all.

First of all, I want to say a huge Thank You to the Friends of The Peele – our FOPS volunteers work tirelessly behind the scenes to raise money for the school and to organise our Year 11 Prom. They have just invested a significant amount of money to provide 2 concrete, all weather, table tennis tables for students to use at break and lunchtimes. These arrived on Thursday evening, 2 weeks early and are sitting on the school yard up by the PE entrance. FOPS also provided funding for the equipment for students to play, which is due to arrive this week. I am hopeful that students will enjoy having this extra activity at their disposal. We are planning to organise for different year groups to have priority on different days and will have a deposit system for students to borrow the equipment – anyone interested in setting up a league, please let me know!!

Secondly I am delighted to be able to tell you that the process of becoming an Academy, and part of the Lincolnshire Educational Trust, is progressing much more quickly now. We have had the initial staff consultation and will be holding a parents meeting on Monday 20th May from 3.30pm for anyone who would like to come along and ask any questions. The key information is that we are aiming to officially convert on 1st July 2019, and the school will close as The Peele Community College on 19th July 2019. We will then re-open on 2nd September as University Academy Long Sutton. The uniform will stay essentially the same, with a change to the badge on the blazer being the key difference – further details about uniform will be provided in due course.

Finally, good luck to our Year 11s who start their GCSEs this week – we are all rooting for you! Good luck also to all the Year 6 students at our local primary school who have their SATs this week.
