Head Teacher's Blog 22nd June 2018
Hello to you all and welcome to my first Blog for quite a while. I apologise for the lack of Blogging recently!!
Today we said fare-well to our Year 11 who sat their final GCSE exam this morning. All of the staff here at The Peele wish you well - enjoy the longest summer holiday you will probably ever have. We look forward to seeing lots of you back on 7th July for the Fete and even more of you on 13th July for your Prom. Speaking of which, the Prom Committee have been fundraising furiously this week and tickets are still on sale for what promises to be the best Prom yet. At this point I would like to thank Sophie Oldfield who has really driven the fundraising activities and made sure that the Prom has a high profile during the last few months. Finally (for now) on the Year 11 theme, I would like to thank Mr King for all her hard work and endless patience in supporting the Year 11 students.
Next week is very busy for us - in fact the rest of this term is going to be very busy. We have End of Year exams ongoing for Years 7-10 and we also have the Year 6 students in for their Transition Days on Thursday and Friday. Then there is the Boston Athletics Trip out on Monday 25th June, which will involve about 60 students from across years 7-10. Tuesday to Friday is the Bishop Grosseteste Residential for a few lucky Year 10 students and on Tuesday Miss Shaw is taking a select group of young musicians to Lincoln in order to take part in an attempt to break the World Record for the largest ever Samba Band. As if that wasn't enough, Year 10 are going to COWA at Kings Lynn for a taster day on Thursday and we have a Magic Show for Year 7 and 8 on Friday afternoon. Then the Year 7's are off on a residential trip over the weekend - news about that one to follow.
We have had some exciting news for The Peele - we have been shortlisted for the Contribution to the Community Award in the Lincolnshire Free Press and Spalding Guardian Education Awards - please keep your fingers crossed for us - the awards ceremony is on 5th July at the South Holland Centre in Spalding.
Looking a bit further ahead, we have our Summer Fete on 7th July - please do come along and join in the fun - and if you are able to donate some prizes for our tombola and raffle stalls, they would be much appreciated. Apparently I will be digging holes on the day to bury a Time Capsule and plant a commemorative tree for our Diamond Anniversary. More details to follow.
Thinking ahead to next year, we will be re-introducing the House System for students. At the moment we are looking for inspiration for the names to give each House. There will be 4 Houses so if you have any ideas for names please do send them in to tutors and Heads of Year - or email them to me on Headteacher@peele.lincs.sch.uk. The Junior Leadership Team will be meeting on Tuesday to share ideas.
Finally I just want to let you know about an important letter which will be coming home on Monday. We will be moving to a new online payment system from Thursday 5th July - this will replace ParentMail. The letter gives you details of the change-over to our new system, called SIMS Agora.
I wish you all a wonderful, restful and sunny weekend.
