Head Teacher's Blog 22nd September 2017
Welcome to the third Head Teacher's Blog of the new school year.
We have had another busy and productive week here at The Peele. Following on from our successful open evening last Thursday, we had several Year 6 students and their parents in for an Open Morning this Thursday. Mrs Boor took students and parents on a tour of the school and they were able to see our fabulous students and staff in action, enjoying their lessons and learning opportunities. We have 2 more Open Mornings coming up on 3rd and 5th of October so please do come along and join us.
Today (Friday) is Jeans for Genes Day so we have been fundraising. Students could wear their jeans to school if they brought in a £1 donation for the charity and we raised £377.29 in total, including some donations of extra change - so big thanks to everyone who gave to such a worthy cause. The money donated will be used to transform the lives of children who have been born with genetic disorders, providing day-to-day support, equipment, nursing and patient support services, and events which bring together affected children and their families. The Science department will be holding assemblies next week to give our students more information about the work of the Jeans for Genes charity.
Next Friday (29th) we will be holding a Macmillan Coffee Morning at the school, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. This charity is close to many of our hearts so we would like to invite you to join us from 10.00am - 12 noon in school. Students and staff will be serving tea, coffee and tasty treats and all donations are welcome. Students will also be able to take part at break time as we will have cakes and treats on offer so please remind them to bring in some cash. We would also appreciate donations of cakes and treats that we can sell to raise money.
Friends of The Peele will be meeting on Wednesday 27th September at 6.00pm in the school library. If you are interested in joining our FOP team then please come along - entry to school is via the Student Entrance next to the staff car park after 4.30pm.
Thank you all for another great week. I wish you a restful weekend and hope that the weather stays fine.
