Head Teacher's Blog 23rd November

Hello Everybody, I hope you have had a rewarding week.

Here at The Peele we have been celebrating the success of our Year 11 students who completed their exams this Summer. It was lovely to see so many of them on Thursday evening - we enjoyed catching up and hearing about their adventures since leaving The Peele. Particular successes were Kayleigh Britton, Liam Braithwaite and Scott Early who all received special recognition for their hard work and progress during their time at The Peele. I would like to thank our guest speakers - Lucy Dack, Jordan English and Lucy Adams - all ex students who have gone on to achieve huge success. Their stories are inspirational and all demonstrated that you can achieve your dreams - as long as you are prepared to work hard and persevere when obstacles are thrown in your path. Thanks as well to the Admin and Site teams for making it all run so smoothly. Two of our current Year 11 students deserve a very special mention - Beatriz Rocha and Jodie Rhodes provided the musical interludes for the evening, with one joint performance and one for Jodie on her own. They were amazing - such talent and so brave for standing up in front of so many people. Thank you ladies, we were all deeply impressed and very proud of you both. Big thanks as well to Mrs Shaw who supported Jodie and Beatriz with their performances. Sadly, the evening was spoiled at the end by a group of boys who saw fit to vandalise the toilets. This was a very disappointing end to a lovely evening where we had been enjoying celebrating the success of our students.

As for our current Year 11s, their Mock exams start on Monday so we hope they are doing lots of revision! Work at the school continues in the drive to raise standards and improve the outcomes for all of our students - and we have also welcomed several prospective new students through the doors. All of our visitors commented on the very warm welcome that they received from staff and students alike.

A few reminders now. Firstly, Year 8 Parents evening has been moved to Thursday 29th November, running from 5pm to 7pm as usual. The Friends of The Peele have their AGM on Wednesday 28th from 6pm in the Library. Finally, we have our Friends of The Peele Christmas Bingo on Monday 3rd December - all welcome.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend, take good care and keep warm.
