Head Teacher's Blog 29th June 2018
I hope you are all enjoying this fantastic weather, it really does make a difference to how we feel when the sun is shining. On the subject of hot weather, I have been investigating the possibility of adding a tailored shorts option to our uniform. If any of you have any thoughts on whether this is a good idea or not, please do let me know on firstname.lastname@example.org.
It has been another busy week here at The Peele - back in the day it used to be that the Summer term was a bit of a wind-down but not any more - in fact I think this is our busiest term yet and we still have 3 weeks to go!
This week we had our new Year 6 students attending school for 2 days. They spent time getting to know each other and their tutors, as well as trying out some lessons and finding their way around the buildings. Everyone I spoke to said they had enjoyed themselves, although by the end of the 2 days some were very tired! We had a great time getting to know you all and we look forward to welcoming you properly as part of The Peele family in September.
Next week we have some Year 5 pupils joining us for 2 days of 5F's Fun - more on that next week.
Today we were very lucky to welcome Steve Price into the school - he is a Gold Star member of the Inner Magic Circle and is visiting Long Sutton for the weekend. After hosting a Mega Workshop at Long Sutton Primary he came across to Peele to deliver a 1 hour show to our Year 7 and 8 students. I have honestly never seen the staff and students so excited - one member of staff declared 'This is the best thing that The Peele have ever done!!' and the students were absolutely thrilled and buzzing following the magic show - we hope to welcome Steve back next year. Huge thanks for Father Jonathan for liaising and setting us up to have Steve visit us and bring us a truly amazing experience.
Year 10 were lucky enough to visit COWA in Kings Lynn on Thursday for a taster day of the courses that they have on offer. Thank you to Mrs Gilman and LincHigher for making this happen - I know that the students who took advantage of the opportunity have really benefited. It is always a good thing to know what options are available to you once you finish your GCSEs - having something to aim for makes studying that bit easier because there is a reason to work hard.
So, looking ahead to next week, we have the School Fete on Saturday 7th July - this promises to be even better than last year so please do come along and join us. The event runs from 12noon to 4pm - there will be various stalls, tombola, raffles, a BBQ, ice cream and cake stalls and not forgetting the medieval re-enactment team, bouncy assault course and the chance to see me digging holes as well! See our website and the flyers in the village for more information. Please come along for some family fun and to help us celebrate our Diamond Jubilee.
Just before I sign off for this week, I wanted to let you know that I will update you with the results from Boston Athletics (which took place on Monday 25th June) next week. Please keep your fingers crossed for us at the Lincolnshire Free Press and Spalding Guardian Education Awards on Thursday.
Have a great week - hopefully see lots of you on Saturday.
