Head Teacher's Blog 2nd March

Well I think this is probably the most unusual week in my whole time in teaching!! At no point did I think I would have to close the school for 3 days due to snow. I would like to thank all of you for your patience and support during the unforeseen weather and travel disruption during the last week. The decision to close the school was not an easy one but ultimately I feel that the safety of our students and staff travelling in to and home from school is a priority. The Peele staff and I will now be focussing on making sure that students are not disadvantaged as a result of missing 3 school days.

Year 11 Mocks will go ahead as planned – 3 extra days of revision will hopefully bear fruit for our students. Exam timetables will be given out on Wednesday 7th March, after the Maths exam. Any queries or concerns, please do get in touch with Mrs Hawes - our Exams Officer.

So, as a result, not much news this week, but I can update you as promised on the Netball Match from 2 weeks ago – here is what Mrs Green had to say:

Players; Emma Linnett ©, Elle White, Emila R, Abby Magor, Kayleigh Britton, Sophie Oldfield, Lucy Crisp(y10), Libby Bingham (y9), Amelia Garfoot (y9)

All played an outstanding game,  working well as a team and developed throughout the game, there was some lovely play feeding the ball from defence up to attack especially with Kayleigh as Centre. The centre passes improved as the game progressed with Libby showing great speed to drive on from defence to offer another option leaving the attackers to move down the court. Within the shooting D Emma and Lucy worked the ball to where they wanted using each other and the WA, C to gain the advantage and playing the GK and GD off the pitch. The goals just kept coming.

They were a complete pleasure to watch and I felt proud of not only how they played technically but also as sportspeople (etiquette etc.) I was only able to watch as Elle Whites (Mrs Brown) mum came to watch and umpired as well, which gave me the chance to really see them play!

Players of the match went to Lucy and Emma, they were all amazing. Well done ladies J

The school will be back to normal next week and we will continue to keep you all updated via the website regarding any important news. The weather is warming up and we are moving ever closer to the final exams for year 11s. Just a reminder that we have Year 8 Parents evening on 15th March and the Options Evening on 22nd March.

Wishing you all an enjoyable week. Take care  and stay safe.
