Head Teacher's Neew Year Blog
HAPPY NEW YEAR and Welcome to 2019.
I hope you have all had a lovely Christmas break - this is just a short Blog post to pass on a few updates and reminders.
First of all, the school is open on Friday 4th for a staff training day - students return on Monday 7th January at the normal time.
Please make sure that students arrive to school in correct uniform. We had a few uniform issues at the end of last term but our standards and expectations have not changed. We did send a reminder letter home just before Christmas so please check that for details - essentially no leggings or 'skinny fit' trousers, no jeans and no trainers - these seemed to be the biggest issues last term. Skirts also seemed to be shrinking! They should be knee length, no shorter. Any student who is not in correct uniform will lose their free time until the issue is rectified - tutors will be checking uniform every morning. A reminder also about hair colour - which should only be natural shades - and make-up (which should be minimal and natural, ideally none at all). Piercings must be limited to one pair of stud earrings (one stud per ear lobe), and we do not permit false nails of any type (these are both in place for Health and Safety reasons).
As the weather is set to become colder, please be considerate if you are dropping off and picking up students at school. We have limited space at the front of school but please do not park on the road outside as this creates a dangerous situation for students and local residents.
Year 11 students will receive their Mock results during the first week back - probably on Wednesday morning.
A bit of advance notice - we are looking at providing some evening classes on IT and the use of Microsoft Office programmes. Details to follow.
Regarding The Peele becoming an Academy, I hope to have some news for you during this term. The process continues behind the scenes with various different parties being involved (much like when you move house, lots of legal bits to deal with) - in the meantime, I and all of the staff here at The Peele continue working hard to raise standards for our students.
Finally, I am always interested to receive feedback from you - our Peele Community - so I will be speaking to Friends of The Peele about organising some evening events when you can come into school, meet with the FoPs team and with school staff and see what we have to offer. If you have any ideas, questions or queries about the school, please do get in touch via the 'enquiries' email link on our website.
I wish you all a happy and healthy 2019. Thank you for your continued support of the school and all of our students and staff.
